Staar Entertainment was established in 1999 with one mission in mind: to bring real, high quality Entertainment Services to the Tampa Bay area!

John Wendelken
Owner | Auctioneer | MC | DJ
John’s passion and expertise for the event industry is demonstrated through his life’s work. As a graduate of Florida Auctioneer academy, John has experience as a dynamic Auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies for Fundraisers and Galas. John has performed as a DJ/Emcee at upscale events throughout Florida.
After graduation from High School, he attended the Musicians Institute of Hollywood, California. Then he completed his bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University before completing his Masters Degree in Communication Sciences at the University of South Florida.
John is a knowledgeable expert at everything from live sound and video productions to performing as an Auctioneer, MC, DJ, and Percussionist. John has performed for and with world class entertainers and productions both nationwide and internationally. He is dedicated to bringing his excitement, knowledge, and experience to your next event.
Dr. Ashley Nelson
Director of Sales and Operations
Dr. Ashley Nelson has over 20+ years in the entertainment and hospitality industry having served most of her career as the Member Relations Director for Hunter's Green Country Club (owned by ClubCorp) and also serving as Regional Field Specialist from 2003 to 2009. Ashley's expertise is in Customer Service and Communication holding both an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida.
She recently completed her PhD in the same discipline from University of South Florida. Ashley has years of training and knowledge in all aspects of event planning, execution, and follow up to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Frankey McCormick
Project Manager | Artist | Web Master | Graphic Designer
Frankey has grown up in the entertainment industry, having learned the frontend and backend of the trade right from the professionals that run the Tampa Bay area. In her 12+ years she has aided in all aspects of an event.
She most enjoys the creative side of events, creating and building physical decor elements. Frankey has also taken the time to learn website design and the digital arts. She can make anything from your unique event logo to your child's cardbox.
Speaking of the digital side of the business, she has recently
been busy rebranding Staar Entertainment, upgrading the website, and pushing our marketing efforts over the edge.
